Cyclist Fighting for Life After Portsmouth Crash
A cyclist has been seriously injured after a collision with a vehicle in Portsmouth this evening, causing major traffic chaos.
Accident at Busy Roundabout
The crash happened just after 4.10pm at the roundabout where Fawcett Road meets Goldsmith Avenue. Police say the cyclist entered the roundabout and was struck by a car. Emergency services raced to the scene, with paramedics delivering life-saving treatment on-site.
Airlifted to Trauma Centre
The injured cyclist was airlifted to Southampton’s regional trauma centre after sustaining what are believed to be life-changing injuries. The air ambulance landed nearby to rush the casualty to hospital.
Traffic Disrupted as Investigation Underway
Police have shut the southbound exit from Fratton Bridge and warn it will remain closed for some time during the investigation. Motorists are urged to avoid the area to ease delays and keep emergency crews safe.
