A 36-year-old man has been jailed for 22 years after being convicted of a sustained campaign of rape and sexual abuse against a child.
Jack Moore, formerly of Johnswell Way in Moulton, was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court on Friday, October 9, after being found guilty of 10 sexual offences.
Northamptonshire Police said the investigation began after a girl disclosed on January 2, 2023, that Moore had abused her over a two-year period.
During the investigation, officers from the force’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit were told that Moore had repeatedly raped the girl, engaged in sexual activity with her and forced her to watch pornography.
Moore was charged with offences including rape of a girl under 13, attempted rape, sexual activity with a child, sexual assault by touching, assault by penetration and causing a child to watch an image of sexual activity.
Following a trial at Northampton Crown Court, a jury returned guilty verdicts on all 10 counts on May 11.
Extended sentence imposed
Moore was handed an extended sentence of 27 years, comprising 22 years in prison followed by a five-year extended licence period.
He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Nicky Webb, from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said Moore had targeted the girl for his own sexual gratification and praised the victim-survivor for her courage throughout the investigation.
The custody image and details of the case were released with the agreement of the victim-survivor, who retains her legal right to lifetime anonymity.
