Armed cops swoop after knifeman storms Park Hill School

Park Hill School in Ilford, IG5, went into lockdown on Friday afternoon after a man armed with a knife scaled the school fence and ran into the playground. Armed officers from the Met Police were on the scene within minutes and quickly detained the suspect.

No injuries, but drama caught on camera

Thankfully, no one was hurt during the tense incident, which was caught on nearby CCTV. A spokesman for the Met Police confirmed the quick response prevented the situation from escalating.

Police details on attack and arrest

Police were called at 2:40pm on Friday, 3 February, following reports of a man with a knife and an assault in Lord Avenue, Ilford. One man was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service after suffering a bite injury to his finger.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and possession of cannabis.
