Tragic biker death after horror crash in Aughton

A 61-year-old motorcyclist has died following a serious crash in Aughton on Friday night.

Crash details emerge

Police rushed to Bowker’s Green Lane just before 7.40pm on May 13 after reports a Suzuki GSF 600 motorbike had veered off the road and slammed into a field. The rider failed to negotiate a sharp left-hand bend.

The man, riding with two friends, was given urgent treatment at the scene by North West Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance. He was then airlifted to Royal Aintree Hospital, but sadly later died from his injuries.

Family devastated

His family have been informed and are being supported by a dedicated Family Liaison Officer as they come to terms with their loss.

Police launch probe, urge witnesses to come forward

Sgt Marc Glass of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “An investigation has commenced to establish the cause of this collision. My thoughts are with the man and his family at this difficult time. In the coming days we will be speaking with witnesses and conducting CCTV enquiries.
