Hit-and-run horror in North Swindon leaves elderly man fighting for life
An elderly man is in a critical condition after a brutal hit-and-run in north Swindon last night. The crash happened around 8.50pm at the junction of Southernwood Drive and Westfield Way.
Fleeing driver sparks major police hunt
The smash involved a blue Vauxhall Corsa, a red Toyota Yaris, and a pedestrian. Shockingly, the occupants of the Vauxhall Corsa fled the scene on foot, triggering a large-scale police search.
The 75-year-old man from the Toyota Yaris was found seriously injured. Emergency crews, including Wiltshire Air Ambulance critical care paramedics, rushed to the scene and administered CPR before he was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police call for witnesses and dashcam footage
Swindon CID detectives are leading the investigation. A Wiltshire Police spokesman urged the public to come forward.
“Police are keen to trace any witnesses to the incident, anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision and anyone who was in the area at the time and may have any dash cam footage.”
