Drama at Brighton i360: Coastguard Rescues Struggling Swimmer

On Wednesday, 7th February 2024, Newhaven Coastguard sprang into action at 2:44pm after an emergency call reported a person in distress near the Brighton i360. A major search operation was launched immediately, covering waters between Palace and West piers with Coastguard and police teams working side by side.

The rescue hinged on a sharp-eyed member of the public who spotted the struggling individual and quickly raised the alarm. Coastguard officers bravely plunged into the cold sea to reach and pull the person to safety.

Quick Response Saves Life

  • Casualty was swiftly helped ashore by Coastguard personnel.
  • Immediate first aid was given to keep the person stable.
  • South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) arrived promptly to take over care.

Once the rescued individual was handed over to medical staff, all rescue operations were stood down, ending the dramatic sea rescue on a positive note.
