A major Portsmouth route finally reopened today after being shut for hours following a serious accident involving a pedestrian and a lorry.

The incident happened on Gunstore Road in Hilsea at around 8:28am. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance scrambled to the scene, sending a doctor and specialist paramedic to provide urgent medical care.

Police responded swiftly, shutting Norway Road at critical junctions including Gunstore Road, Merlin Drive, Copnor Road, and Williams Road. The closures sparked major gridlock across Hilsea and Cosham, frustrating local drivers.

Road Now Clear, Condition of Pedestrian Unknown

By 4:02pm, police confirmed Norway Road had reopened and traffic was flowing normally again. The condition of the pedestrian hit by the lorry has not been released.
