Tragic Hit-and-Run: Woman Dies After Collision at Eleanor Cross Road
A 49-year-old woman has died following a collision with a white Ford Fiesta at traffic lights on Eleanor Cross Road junction with Eleanor Way. The crash happened at around 9.20pm on Thursday, 14 April.
Emergency Crews Rush to Scene
Officers and the East of England Ambulance Service rushed to the scene. The pedestrian, named Vipuli Palihakkarra from Waltham Cross, was taken to hospital in a serious condition. Sadly, she later passed away.
Driver Stays at Scene, Police Launch Investigation
The driver of the Ford Fiesta stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police inquiries. Specialist officers are supporting Vipuli’s family during this tragic time.
Call for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Sergeant David Burstow of the Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who sadly died following this incident.
“As we continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, I’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, has information about it, or who has dash cam footage of it or events leading up to it.”
