Violent Attack Shakes Middle Gate

Just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, two men heading to a pub crawl stop in Middle Gate were set upon by three attackers. What started as a night out turned into a nightmare when three men accused of being white and in their late twenties launched an unprovoked assault.

One Man in Critical Condition

A 39-year-old victim was knocked unconscious and rushed to Queen’s Medical Centre, where he remains in critical condition. His brother suffered minor injuries in the fracas.

Police Hunt Three Suspects

Investigators are urging witnesses to step forward. Detective Inspector Pam Dowson said, “This was an unprovoked attack on two brothers enjoying a night out in Newark with their friends. The pair had visited several pubs earlier before the incident on Middle Gate.”

Police have launched multiple lines of enquiry, including reviewing CCTV footage. Anyone who was near Middle Gate around the time of the attack and saw anything suspicious is urged to contact authorities immediately.
