Two Men Cleared in George Gilbey Death Probe
Essex Police have confirmed that two men arrested over the tragic death of Gogglebox star George Gilbey will face no further action. The men were initially held on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter but have now been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Tragic Death at Shoebury Warehouse
George Gilbey, 40, a self-employed electrician and reality TV personality, died following an incident at a Shoebury warehouse earlier this year. Emergency crews rushed to the scene but sadly pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police Close Criminal Investigation; Safety Probe Continues
While Essex Police have ended their criminal inquiry, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is carrying on with its own probe to see if there were any breaches of workplace safety laws.
“This will aim to establish if there have been any breaches of health and safety law,” said Inspector Natalie Prince.
Remembering a Reality TV Favourite
George first rose to fame in 2013 as part of Channel 4’s original Gogglebox cast alongside his mother Linda McGarry and stepfather Pete McGarry. He later appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2014.
Tributes poured in following the news of his death. Reality star Ricci Guarnaccio, who appeared with George on Celebrity Big Brother, tweeted:
“Breaks my heart but @georgegilbey you are well and truly going to be missed my friend. Always lit up the room, cared for others & the memories we made I’ll cherish forever, brother.”
