Paddle Steamer Crashes Into Isle of Arran Pier

Chaos on the Clyde! A paddle steamer smashed into Brodick Pier on the Isle of Arran at 5.28pm today, September 3.

The vessel was carrying 213 passengers and 26 crew when the collision happened.

Injuries Reported as Rescue Efforts Underway

Seventeen people have reported injuries. Several have been rushed to hospital, with emergency services scrambling to help.

  • HM Coastguard dispatched a search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick and a Helimed.
  • The Arran coastguard rescue team rushed to the scene.
  • Scottish Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Service, and Police Scotland remain actively involved.

Ongoing Investigation Into Incident

Authorities confirm the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has been notified and is investigating the crash.

HM Coastguard said: “With partner agencies, we are working to ensure everyone is taken safely from the vessel.”
