River Chaos: Youths Ruin Summer Fun on the Hamble
The glorious summer sun is out, but so are a swarm of unruly youths making a mess of the River Hamble. Instead of enjoying the fine weather, these troublemakers are turning a lovely day out into a nightmare for everyone.
Youths Gone Wild on the Water
With zero respect for fellow river users and vital community services, these youngsters are making life miserable. They seem clueless about basic behaviour and are ignoring warnings from the River Hamble Harbour Authority.
Not every young person is to blame, but a troublesome few are spoiling it for all. Their antics are now disrupting essential services like the Pink Ferry and Water Taxi—both lifelines for locals and visitors alike.
Dangerous Stunts Put Lives at Risk
Swimming near moving propellers is a recipe for disaster. Harbour staff repeatedly warn youngsters about the deadly risks, but some stubbornly insist on swimming wherever they please. Even worse, there’s a shocking lack of respect for the Hamble Lifeboat service.
Any damage to lifeboats or lifesaving gear could have catastrophic consequences, putting lives in jeopardy.
Call Out the Troublemakers
The Harbour Authority needs your help to crack down on this antisocial behaviour. If you witness any incidents causing a public nuisance, report them by calling 101 and quoting reference Z Occ: 44180173073.
For emergencies or criminal acts like threats or damage, dial 999 immediately. Every genuine report helps police and harbour staff keep the River Hamble safe.
Beware of Hoax Calls
The Harbour Office has recently been bombarded with hoax calls falsely claiming boat damage. These stunts waste precious resources and are a criminal offence.
If you have any photos or videos of bad behaviour (don’t put yourself in danger!), send them to [email protected].
It’s time to stand firm and protect the River Hamble for everyone who loves it.
