Masked Gunman Kills Nine-Year-Old Girl in Shocking Liverpool Shooting
A chilling attack unfolded on Kingsheath Avenue in Knotty Ash on Monday night when a balaclava-clad gunman chased a man into a family home – and ended up fatally shooting a nine-year-old girl.
Gunman Fires Through Door, Innocent Girl Dies
As Olivia’s mother, Cheryl Korbel, desperately tried to slam the door shut around 10 p.m., the shooter forced his hand through and opened fire. Cheryl was hit in the wrist, but tragically, the same bullet struck and killed Olivia, who was standing just behind her.
The gunman then fired two more shots at his target, 35-year-old Joseph Nee, before fleeing on foot.
Chaos Outside Home as Victim Rushes Inside
Just moments earlier, Mr Nee burst into the house after Cheryl opened the door following a commotion outside. The gunman had been pursuing Nee and another man down the street.
Joseph Nee, a convicted burglar shot in the upper body, was rushed to hospital by friends in a black Audi Q3. He is now in stable condition.
Family Plea for Justice as Police Hunt Killer
Devastated, Olivia’s family have issued a heartbreaking plea: “Who took our baby away from us?” Friends and relatives have shared touching photos and memories of the “one in a million” schoolgirl.
Police say their recent crackdown on high-level criminals may have escalated gang tensions in Liverpool, contributing to this tragic shooting.
Joseph Nee is set to be returned to prison for breaching his release conditions.
Ongoing Police Investigation
After the shooting, officers rushed Olivia to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where she later died. Cheryl Korbel was taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment.
Merseyside Police have already tracked down and questioned two people linked to the black Audi. Another man present during the incident has also been spoken to as part of the fast-moving investigation.
The community awaits answers as police hunt the balaclava gunman who turned a quiet night into a devastating tragedy.
