Life Sentence for Killer of Beloved Mum in Holyhead
Colin John Milburn has been handed a life sentence with a minimum of 20 years after murdering Buddug Jones, 48, at her home in Rhydwyn, Holyhead on April 22. The verdict was delivered today, Friday, January 6, at Caernarfon Crown Court.
Cowardly Attack on Defenceless Woman
Detective Sergeant James Stamatiou of the North Wales Police Major Investigation Team condemned the crime as “cowardly.” He said, “This was a cowardly attack on a defenceless woman, whose life was cruelly cut short in her own home.”
Milburn kept denying responsibility, despite clear evidence. Stamatiou added, “He took away Buddug’s future and only he knows the reasons for his dreadful actions.”
Family’s Heartbreaking Tribute
Buddug’s four sons — Martin, John, Daniel, and Adam — paid an emotional tribute:
“Buddug was the best of the best. She was such a special mam, naini, sister and friend with the kindest of hearts. Nothing has been the same since she’s gone, and nothing ever will be. Whilst no sentence will ever bring her back or fill the hole left in our lives, it does give us some closure to move on while remembering her in everything we do. We kindly ask to be left in peace and privacy as we continue to grieve.”
Police Warn: Domestic Violence Will Not Be Tolerated
Detective Stamatiou reassured the public: “We are committed to identifying violent men who pose the highest risk of harm to women and girls. They should be in no doubt that we are coming after them.”
