Driver High on Cocaine Nearly Crashes into Police Van with Child On Board
Daniel Radbourne, 34, from Queens Avenue, was arrested after a hair-raising police chase in Highworth on April 19, 2021. Radbourne shot out in front of officers in his BMW, forcing them into an emergency stop to avoid a crash.
Erratic Driving Sparks Drug Test
Policemen pulled Radbourne over and quickly suspected drug driving due to his wild behaviour behind the wheel. A roadside wipe test confirmed their fears — he was three times over the legal cocaine limit.
Child Passenger Adds to Danger
PC Sean Williams of the Central South Neighbourhood Team revealed the real horror: Radbourne had a child in the back seat during his reckless drive. “It’s shocking to put a child at such risk. He was dangerously close to smashing into a police van,” said PC Williams. “Thankfully, no one was hurt.”
Serious Consequences for Drug Driving
Radbourne now faces a driving ban and a £700 fine. On top of that, he must pay £800 in Crown Prosecution Service costs plus £70 for victim services. PC Williams warned, “Drug driving kills. Using drugs slows your reaction times massively and endangers everyone on the road.”
