Knife-Wielding Gang’s 6-Hour Reign of Terror Ends in Jail
Perry Lee Osborne, 32, no fixed address, has been locked up for 11 years after a jury found him guilty of aggravated burglary and false imprisonment at Southampton Crown Court.
Family Held Hostage During Brutal Home Invasion
On the evening of December 19, 2020, Osborne and a gang of six or seven men forced their way into a home on Mortimers Lane, Upham. Armed with a knife, they held a couple and their adult son hostage in a room for six terrifying hours.
- The intruders ransacked the house
- Cut into a safe to steal cash, jewellery, and a vehicle
DNA Evidence Seals Osborne’s Fate
Investigators found Osborne’s DNA on a smoke alarm and an internal window in the victim’s home. He was arrested in February 2021 and charged shortly after.
Police Praise Family’s Courage, Promise Tough Justice
“This was a horrific ordeal for the family but they have remained steadfast in their support of a prosecution,” said Police Staff Investigator Lynn Levett.
“A lot of the items that were stolen had a monetary value, but the sentimental value was far greater.
I hope this sentence reassures people that we take all crimes of this nature seriously and will do everything we can to ensure violent offenders are brought to justice.”
