Paedophile Richard Webb Jailed for Child Abuse
Richard Webb, 65, from Unity House, Chippenham, has been found guilty of six counts of indecent assault on a child after a four-day trial at Winchester Crown Court on November 20.
Horrific Abuse Spanned Six Years
Webb repeatedly abused his young victim over a chilling six-year period starting in 1996. The victim described the lasting damage in a court impact statement:
“I feel as though those years are lost to me. It feels like I have disassociated myself from most of my childhood. He ruined my life. I don’t think I will ever get over what he did to me. I will forever be trying to deal with the abuse I suffered.”
Detective Commends Victim’s Courage
Detective Constable Lauren Barnard said Webb’s actions robbed someone of their childhood purely for his own twisted gratification.
“His actions are abhorrent and I am pleased he will now serve a custodial sentence for his behaviour.”
DC Barnard also praised the victim’s bravery in coming forward for the first time, which led to justice being served:
“Without her bravery, we would not have been able to put Webb before the courts for justice to be served.”
