Crack Cocaine Suspect Dashes from Hospital, Caught Days Later
Hasani Chakron, 24, a homeless man, was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court on Tuesday, 1 December. He admitted escaping lawful custody, possessing Class A drugs, stealing a rucksack, and carrying someone else’s ID.
Drug Arrest Ends in Daring Escape Attempt
On 19 February, Chakron was arrested in Tottenham High Road (N17) for having crack cocaine. Police searched him and found stolen ID and a rucksack reported missing earlier that day.
He was taken to Wood Green Custody Centre but fell ill and was rushed by ambulance to North Middlesex Hospital. Shockingly, Chakron bolted from police custody upon arrival and vanished without a trace.
Manhunt Launched as Chakron Flees the Law
Detectives scoured the area, enlisting local pubs and shops to help track down Chakron. Their efforts paid off when he was spotted and arrested back on Tottenham High Road three days later, on 22 February.
Detective Constable Emma Stewart said: “This was a brazen escape from lawful custody whereby Chakron was unlawfully at large for a number of days. An operation to locate him was launched immediately and we worked hard to locate him and bring him to justice.
“Members of the local community assisted the investigation and, as always, we are grateful for their support.”
