Knife Attack After Street Brawl Leaves One Hospitalised

Junior Bailey launched a brutal knife assault on Craig Taylor just minutes after Taylor and another man beat him up.

The vicious attack went way beyond self-defence. Taylor barely dodged a stab to the chest but then hit the ground. Bailey then crouched over him, holding him down and stabbing him twice. After that, Bailey delivered a savage kick to Taylor’s face before calmly walking away.

Shocking Details of the Assault

  • The attack happened around 4.30pm on 22 June 2022 in Radford.
  • Taylor suffered two stab wounds, multiple fractures, and a collapsed lung.
  • Just seconds before the stabbing, Taylor’s head was stamped on by Tyrone Rowe.
  • The whole fight erupted after Taylor and Marvin Loi initially attacked Bailey, leaving him with multiple facial fractures.

Justice Served: Jail for ‘Over the Top’ Violence

Bailey, 35, was found guilty of wounding with intent after a week-long trial ending 17 February 2023. On 2 March, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced him to four years behind bars.

“You were left with unpleasant injuries after being assaulted. If it had ended there, you’d have been the victim, but it didn’t,” Judge Steven Coupland said.

“Your intention changed from defending yourself and went completely over the top. When he was defenseless on the ground, you used force enough to fracture bones.”

Taylor, 30, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and got a 16-month suspended sentence. Loi, 44, also pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm, receiving a 10-month suspended sentence plus unpaid work. Rowe, 39, pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.

Police Warn Against Taking the Law Into Your Own Hands

Detective Sergeant Sarah Gregg from Nottinghamshire Police condemned the violence.

“This savage attack unfolded in front of the public and could easily have been fatal,” she said.

“Bailey claimed self-defence, but the stabbing happened two minutes after the initial fight. He could have walked away or phoned police.

“He tried to slash Taylor with a weapon and stabbed four times while Taylor lay helpless on the ground—only twice connected.

“This was completely disproportionate violence. Taking the law into your own hands means ending up behind bars.”
