Serial Thief Busted at Paddington Station After Targeting Commuters

Giuvadin Mahmet, 47, has been jailed for 45 weeks after a spree of brazen thefts across London’s busiest stations.

Stole From Mums and Couples on Busy Platforms

  • On August 11, Mahmet struck at Paddington station, snatching expensive belongings from unsuspecting passengers.
  • In September, he targeted a mother at Canning Town station, stealing her purse after pretending to nudge her on the train.
  • The same month, he lifted cards and cash from a woman at Paddington station after following her and her husband up the escalator.

Caught on CCTV and Nabbed at London Bridge

British Transport Police circulated CCTV images of Mahmet throughout London. Officers spotted him at London Bridge station on October 21 and arrested him on the spot.

Further investigation linked Mahmet to seven thefts, one attempted theft, and a fraud by false representation.

Convicted and Ordered to Pay Over £3,000 in Fines

Mahmet, from De Grey Street in Kingston upon Hull, appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on October 24. He pleaded guilty to all charges and was handed a 45-week jail sentence, along with more than £3,000 in fines.
