Tragic Drowning Claims Four Young Boys at Babbs Mill Park

Eight-year-old Finlay Butler and his six-year-old brother Samuel lost their lives in a heartbreaking accident. Their cousin Thomas Stewart, 11, and brave 10-year-old Jack Johnson, who tried to save them, also died.

Twenty Minutes in the Water

The tragic events unfolded on December 11 at Babbs Mill Park near Birmingham. Emergency services were called, but the boys were in the water for over 20 minutes before being rescued. Three were pulled out after 22 minutes, with the fourth following seven minutes later.

Coroner Expresses Deep Sympathy

Birmingham and Solihull coroner Louise Hunt offered her sincere condolences to the grieving families. She described the incident as a “devastating tragedy” and said, “It is difficult to comprehend the anguish felt by the boys’ relatives.”

Full Inquest Set for July
