Birmingham man jailed for grooming and assaulting young girl in Brighton
Predatory groomer caught red-handed in Brighton Marina
Niall O’Sullivan, 28, has been slapped with a lengthy jail term for sexually assaulting a girl under 13. The former motor mechanic from Birmingham used a mobile app to groom his victim with manipulative messages before travelling down south to Brighton to meet her.
Police caught O’Sullivan in the act in a Brighton Marina car park on May 7 at around 2 PM.
Seven counts of rape: Nine years and four months behind bars
At Lewes Crown Court on November 24, O’Sullivan admitted to seven counts of rape. He was sentenced to nine years and four months in prison. He must serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before parole and face an extra year on licence after release.
Life-long restrictions to protect children
The court slapped O’Sullivan with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, banning contact with children. He will also be registered as a sex offender for life.
Victim’s chilling account
- O’Sullivan first contacted the girl via chat app in November 2022.
- He met her in April and committed six assaults, often in his car or secluded spots.
- The victim revealed O’Sullivan flew into rages when she tried to hang out with friends.
Brighton Safeguarding Investigation Unit (SIU) led the probe, with specially trained officers supporting the victim every step of the way.
