Man Charged with Murder of 11-Year-Old Boy Near Shipley Country Park

A grim tragedy has unfolded near Shipley Country Park in Heanor. Derbyshire police have charged a 41-year-old man with murder after an 11-year-old boy was found seriously injured on Thorpes Road on Saturday, 18 June.

Boy Dies After Being Found Injured

Emergency crews rushed to the scene following reports of a young boy hurt near the park. Despite their efforts, the child sadly died later that same day.

Michael Harrison Facing Murder and Abuse Charges

Michael Harrison, from Eaton Terrace, Nottingham, was arrested as part of the police investigation. He appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 4 July, charged with murder and coercive and controlling behaviour.

Police Seek Information and White Vauxhall Combo Van

The Derbyshire Constabulary and East Midlands Major Crime Unit continue probing this shocking case. Officers are on the lookout for a white Vauxhall Combo van bearing any of these registrations:
