Drug Dealers Jailed Over Murder Cover-Up in Colchester
Three drug runners caught up in the murder chaos of Murdoch Brown have been handed hefty jail terms for perverting the course of justice. The chilling case unfolded in Greenstead, Colchester, where 31-year-old Murdoch was left to die after a brutal stabbing.
Murderer Locked Up for Life
Reece McHutcherson, 20, of Pillow Way, Buckingham, was convicted of Murdoch’s murder after a Chelmsford Crown Court trial last month. The killer received life behind bars with a minimum 20-year term.
Accomplices Get Prison for Cover-Up and Drug Dealing
- Jay Dice, 23, from Leytonstone, cleared of murder but found guilty of conspiracy to pervert justice and supplying class A drugs. Sentenced to six years and 19 weeks.
- Kayley Hodgkinson, 32, of Cedars Road, Colchester, convicted of conspiracy to pervert justice. She landed a three-year sentence.
- Toyn Williams, 29, from Hale End, cleared of murder and manslaughter but convicted of conspiracy to pervert justice and drug offences. Jailed for seven and a half years.
The trio’s efforts to obstruct the murder investigation failed, exposing them as key players in a local drug network.
“Justice has been served, ensuring those who tried to cover up this brutal murder are held accountable,” a court source said.
This case sends a stark warning to those who think they can aid violent criminals and dodge the law.
