Pair Nabbed for Chatham High Street Robbery

Two men have been charged after allegedly robbing a man on Chatham High Street. Jamil Onilearan, 20, and Ghandi Mallak, 22, are accused of stealing a phone, bank card, and train ticket at around 6:50pm on Saturday, 26 February 2022.

Quick Police Action Leads to Arrests

Medway Community Policing Team sprang into action, working hand-in-hand with Medway Council’s CCTV operators. Their swift response saw both suspects detained within 25 minutes, around 7:15pm on the High Street.

Drugs Seized & Assault Charges Added

Following searches, officers found a stash of heroin and crack cocaine. Onilearan, with no fixed address, faces charges of robbery and possession with intent to supply these drugs. Mallak, also homeless, is charged with the same offences plus an additional count of assault. The assault charge relates to him allegedly attacking a man who tried to help the robbery victim.

Remanded in Custody Ahead of Court Dates

Both men were remanded in custody and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 28 February. They are set to face Maidstone Crown Court on 28 March.
