Danny Dyer Goes Undercover for Big Issue on London Streets!
Dyer Dons Disguise to Sell Magazines
Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer swapped the spotlight for a flat cap and the iconic red Big Issue tabard on Monday. He hit Tottenham Court Road in London, teaming up with Big Issue seller Andre Rosant to sell the magazine firsthand.
Unrecognised and Undeterred
Known for playing Mick Carter on the hit soap, Danny was shocked by how many people walked past without recognising him. “There’s a lot of very kind people out there,” Dyer told The Big Issue. “I understand they were probably buying because of who I am – I was signing a few copies and stuff.”
He reflected on how tough the streets can be: “It’s really interesting to be out here. There’s not a lot of money about right now, everyone’s struggling, so I’m really happy we sold a few. I didn’t think we’d sell one, so I’m over the moon, I’m buzzing.”
Big Praise from a Big Seller
Andre Rosant, who normally sells at Carnaby Street, applauded Dyer’s efforts. “Danny made a good stab at selling it,” he said. “But as enormously famous as he is, people still walked past and ignored him.” Rosant added, “The expression on his face when people ignored or avoided him was telling – I’m sure he’s not used to that.”
Dyer Backs Big Community Campaign
Beyond selling magazines, Danny is supporting the Big Community campaign. This new initiative pushes for stronger action on poverty and shines a spotlight on the struggles of Big Issue sellers. His backing helps raise awareness about the hardships faced by those living in poverty across the UK.
