Teen Arrested Over Tragic West Ham Park Stabbing

Detectives hunting Rahaan Ahmed Amin’s killer have made a breakthrough. A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday, 2 August, and is now held at an East London police station.

How It All Unfolded

The horror began on Sunday, 9 July, around 5:30pm at West Ham Park in Newham. Police and paramedics raced to the scene after receiving a 999 call about a stabbing.

They found 16-year-old Rahaan with a stab wound. Despite emergency treatment from London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, Rahaan died in hospital the next day.

Investigation and Arrests So Far

A post-mortem on 12 July confirmed Rahaan died from a stab wound to the heart. Since then, five others have been caught up in the probe:

  • A 16-year-old charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He faces court at the Old Bailey on 3 October.
  • A 16-year-old and a 14-year-old arrested on suspicion of murder but released on bail pending further inquiries.
  • Two other 16-year-olds arrested at the scene but released without charge.

Police Appeal for Public Help

The Met’s Specialist Crime Command continues to support Rahaan’s family during this devastating time. Officers now urge anyone with images or footage from the incident to come forward via their dedicated website.

The hunt for justice goes on.
