Fourth Charged in Murder of Jason Romeo in Clapton
New Arrest Rocks Clapton Murder Case
A fourth suspect has been charged with the murder of 20-year-old Jason Romeo, who was fatally stabbed in Clapton on 18 February. Renaldo Roberts, 25, from Hobbs Place Estate, E1, was arrested on Tuesday, 25 February, and has now been formally charged with murder. He is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 27 February.
Three Others Already Behind Bars
Roberts joins Raynolph Asante, 22, of Pembury Road, Hackney; Travis Mitchell, 22, of Bodney Road, Hackney; and Rhamyah Bailey-Edwards, 21, of Williams Avenue, Walthamstow. All three were charged with murder and appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 February. They remain in custody and face Old Bailey trial on 3 November.
More Arrests Made
- A 19-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, 26 February, on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
- Another 19-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 25 February, also on suspicion of murder. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
How It Unfolded
Jason Romeo was stabbed outside a property on Bodney Road, E5, at 5:59pm on Tuesday, 18 February. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but tragically, Jason died there and then.
