Man Pleads Guilty to Stabbing Ex-Partner to Death in Warrington
Murder Shocks Woolston Community
A 61-year-old man has admitted murdering his former partner in a brutal attack in Warrington. Gavin Shaw appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, 23 February, where he pleaded guilty to killing 55-year-old Michele Kennedy.
The chilling incident happened just after 4pm on Monday 13 October 2025 at a home on Manchester Road in Woolston. Police rushed to the scene after multiple 999 calls. Michele was found outside the property with fatal stab wounds.
Victim Dies After Emergency Airlift
Michele was airlifted to Aintree Hospital in a critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, she tragically passed away on Saturday 18 October.
Shaw was arrested on the spot and charged with murder shortly after.
Sentence Set for April
Shaw has been remanded in custody ahead of his sentencing hearing at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, 2 April.

“This was an exceptionally traumatic incident for all those involved, especially Michele’s family, neighbours, and the emergency services who tried to help her following the attack,” said Detective Inspector Eleanor Atkinson, who led the investigation.
“While nothing can bring her back, I hope this conclusion brings her family some closure.”

“Michele was a much-loved daughter, mother, sister, auntie and nana. She was larger than life and would help anyone.
“Strong, fearless and one of a kind, Michele leaves a massive hole in our family and all who knew her.
“We thank the emergency services and everyone who tried to help. We will miss her dearly.”
