Man Charged After Fatal Soho Road Hit-and-Run

West Midlands Police have arrested a man following a deadly hit-and-run on Soho Road, Birmingham, that killed one and seriously injured another on Tuesday, 16 December.

Fatal Crash Rocks Birmingham

A 54-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a car near the Whitehall Road junction at around 11:20am. A 47-year-old woman suffered leg injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.

41-Year-Old Facing Multiple Charges Over Tragedy

Harinderpal Athwal, 41, from Oldbury, was arrested and charged with:

  • Causing death by dangerous driving
  • Failing to stop
  • Causing death while driving disqualified and uninsured
  • Causing serious injury by dangerous driving
  • Failing to report a road collision

Athwal has been remanded and is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.
