Man Arrested Over Shocking Sexual Assaults in Birmingham City Centre
A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged after two women were sexually assaulted in Birmingham’s city centre.
Leonardo Gillin Faces Serious Charges
Leonardo Gillin has been charged with sexual assault and non-fatal strangulation following attacks in the early hours on Church Street and Newhall Street.
He remains in custody and is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today, 28 March.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
West Midlands Police are urging anyone who was near the area during the incidents to come forward with information.
Witnesses can call 101 quoting log number 126 of 27 March.
Crackdown on Violence Against Women Intensifies
Police have vowed to tackle violence against women and girls head-on.
“We can’t, and won’t, tolerate violence against women and girls,” officers said. “We’re stepping up patrols with both visible and plain-clothed officers and working with partners and support groups to create safer streets.”
