Chaos erupted in Southwark in the early hours of Saturday, 13 September, when police were called to a disturbance involving a group of men at 2:55am. Emergency crews, including the London Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene where a man was found critically injured and rushed to hospital.

Victim Dies, Suspect Faces Manslaughter Charge

Michael John Edwards, 43, from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, tragically died in hospital on Wednesday, 17 September. His grieving family is now being supported by specialist officers.

Lewis Macleod, 36, from Sunderland, appeared at Inner London Crown Court on Monday, 13 October. He was charged with manslaughter, upgraded from initial grievous bodily harm charges.

Trial Date Locked In for 2026

The case is scheduled for trial at Inner London Crown Court starting Monday, 13 April 2026.
