Man Convicted of Attempted Murder in Brutal Stratford Attack

A 42-year-old man has been found guilty of attempted murder after a savage assault in Stratford that left his housemate with life-changing injuries.

Attack in Early Hours

Isakov Akhmad, from Thorogood Gardens, E15, was convicted on Wednesday, 4 December at Snaresbrook Crown Court. He attacked his housemate Firuz Raupov with a dumbbell following an argument in their Stratford home.

The horrific incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, 9 June. The victim, in his 40s, suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to an east London hospital. His injuries have been described as life-changing.

Swift Police Action

Police acted fast, arresting Akhmad near the scene just three hours after the assault. A thorough investigation followed, collecting forensic evidence and witness testimonies that built a strong case.

Akhmad was charged with attempted murder on Saturday, 15 June.

“This was a very traumatic incident, and it is highly satisfying to have achieved some sort of justice for the victim and his family, with a dangerous man now facing a prison sentence,”

said Detective Constable Sorcha Homer from the north east local investigations unit.

Sentencing Set for March 2025

Akhmad remains in custody and will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 31 March 2025.
