Rapist and Strangler Slammed with 14 Years Behind Bars

A brutal attacker who raped and strangled a woman in a terrifying assault has been locked up for over 14 years.

Kaymore ‘Kay’ Cham’s Savage Assault

Kaymore Cham, 44, from Hounslow, pleaded not guilty but was convicted of a chilling attack on November 11, 2023, in Sunbury-on-Thames. Cham sexually assaulted the woman in her home before chasing her into the street. There, he launched a violent onslaught involving non-fatal strangulation, witnessed by passers-by. Though the rape happened indoors, the brutal aftermath spilled outside.

Forensic Evidence Shatters His Denial

Cham initially denied any sexual contact, but forensic proof smashed his lies. His links to another sex assault under Metropolitan Police investigation added fuel to the prosecution’s fire. He was found guilty on all counts.

Harsh Sentence Delivered

On March 7, Cham was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison—8.5 years for the Surrey offences plus 6 years for the separate Met Police case. He faces an additional 4.5 years on extended licence.

Victim Speaks Out

“The lead up to court was nerve-racking and scary. I’d never been in court, let alone as a victim. But with the support from officers, Rachel, and Sage, I found the strength to get through it. Hearing the verdict left me confused, angry, hurt—but also proud that justice was served, ensuring he couldn’t harm anyone else.

The past 14 months were the worst of my life, severely affecting my mental health. I constantly questioned why this happened, blaming myself for not stopping it. While I may never find all the answers, I’ve accepted it wasn’t my fault and am gradually rebuilding my life.”

Police Praise Victim’s Bravery

Detective Constable Charlotte Money from Surrey Police’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team said:

“Cham is a dangerous individual who uses violence and intimidation to get his way. In November 2023, he launched a brutal attack on a woman who clearly rejected him. Despite her refusal, he pursued a twisted version of their relationship.

We commend her courage in speaking out. Cham’s convictions for crimes against multiple women in different police areas reveal a clear pattern of predatory behaviour.

This sentence shows our commitment to tackling sexual violence head-on. We urge any victim to come forward—you will be believed, supported, and we will fight for justice for you.”
