Knife-Wielding Robber Sentenced for Luton Pharmacy Attack

A 29-year-old man has been locked up for over two years after attempting to rob a Luton pharmacy at knifepoint in July.

Knife Threat Sparks Panic at Sundon Park Pharmacy

On the afternoon of Thursday 9 July, David Lee, from Plantation Road, stormed a Sundon Park pharmacy. Armed with a knife, he threatened staff and demanded prescription medication just after 3.30pm.

His terrifying rampage was cut short when a quick-thinking member of the public entered the store. The brave bystander got Lee to drop his weapon and flee the premises. Lee continued his threats through the glass door but was swiftly arrested by police as he tried to leave.

Justice Served: Lee Sentenced to 27 Months Behind Bars

At Luton Crown Court, Lee pleaded guilty to attempted robbery, possession of a knife in public, and threatening with a blade. He was sentenced to 27 months in prison.

“This was an extremely upsetting incident for the employees and members of the public inside the store and I wish to thank the bravery of those involved,” said Detective Constable Daniel Matcham. “Lee will now spend time in jail where he can reflect on his actions that day. We will never tolerate this type of offending.”
