Miracle Escape After Tree Smash Near Wigton

A motorist walked away unscathed after a terrifying high-speed crash near Wigton, Cumbria, on Saturday night. The driver lost control and smashed into a tree about 10 feet up the trunk. The car then skidded nearly 50 feet down the road. The impact was so severe the engine was hurled 10 to 20 feet away from the wreckage.

Driver Nabbed for Drug-Driving

Despite the brutal crash, the driver escaped without serious injury. But a roadside drug test came back positive for cannabis. Cumbria Police wasted no time arresting him on suspicion of drug-driving and possession of cannabis.

Operation Limit Cracks Down on Road Riskers

This dramatic smash happened as Cumbria Police launched Operation Limit, a tough campaign targeting drink and drug drivers. Last year alone, over 200 motorists were hauled in under this crackdown.

Police warn: Don’t risk it. Stay safe, stay sober behind the wheel. Don’t be another statistic.
