A Waterlooville man sparked a high-octane police chase on the M27 after driving the wrong way down the motorway. Keith Winning, 45, led officers on a wild pursuit involving more than 15 police traffic cars, a helicopter, and a police search dog.
Wrong-Way Driver Sparks Massive Police Hunt
The drama unfolded just after 11.30pm on Tuesday, as Winning sped between junctions 12 and 11 in a silver Nissan Micra. Police say he even tried to ram a patrol car during the frantic attempt to escape capture.
Sparks Fly as Driver Evades Cops
At one point, sparks flew from the front wheel of Winning’s car as he recklessly sped up the motorway with officers in hot pursuit. The dangerous stunt put lives at risk and forced a huge police response.
Charges Filed, Court Date Set
Keith Winning, of Frogmore Lane, Frogmore, has been charged with dangerous driving, refusing to take a roadside breath test, and failing to stop. He is due to appear at Fareham Magistrates’ Court on June 15 to face the charges.
