Reckless Kia Sparks Police Pursuit
A suspected drug dealer sparked chaos in Chatham on Sunday, October 20, 2024, after refusing to stop for police. Officers tried to pull over a Kia driving without headlights through the busy Medway Tunnel. Instead of stopping, the driver sped off towards Chatham town centre, risking serious danger.
Driver Abandons Car, Dumps Drugs
The driver ditched the vehicle near the bus station and bolted on foot. Police scoured the abandoned Kia and found small bags of cannabis. An urgent investigation was launched to track down the fleeing suspect.
Suspect Caught, Resists Arrest
On Tuesday, November 5, officers caught up with 31-year-old Kehinde Karunwi in Christopher Road. During the arrest, Karunwi resisted but was eventually detained. Cops seized further amounts of cannabis and cocaine from him.

- Two counts of possession of cannabis with intent to supply
- Dangerous driving
- Failing to stop for police
- Obstructing an officer
Karunwi, who has no fixed address, faced Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 7, and was remanded in custody. He is due back in Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, December 6.
