Cody Tierney, 21, jailed for over two years after admitting multiple sexual offences against a teenage girl.
Jailed for Two Years and Three Months
At a packed Swindon Crown Court on 1 October 2025, Cody Tierney, 21, of Dulverton Avenue, Swindon, was sentenced to two years and three months behind bars. Tierney pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual touching of a child aged 13 to 15 and sexual activity with a 14-year-old in July 2024.
He was also slapped with a 10-year placement on the Sex Offender’s Register, a sexual harm prevention order, and an indefinite restraining order—both lasting ten years.
From Grooming to Shocking Assault
The nightmare began in April 2023 when Tierney, known to the victim, started grooming the then 13-year-old girl. It kicked off with vile messages he made her delete. The abuse escalated to sexual touching, including a brazen attack on a train in May 2023.
By July 2024, Tierney coerced the girl into sexual activity and warned her to stay silent and keep away. The victim’s mum finally reported the abuse to police in September 2024. Initially denying the charges, Tierney changed his plea in July 2025.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
“This was a traumatic experience for the victim who was sexually assaulted by someone she trusted,” said DC Melanie Reeves from the Child Abuse Investigation Team. “Tierney abused that trust in a horrible way with gradually escalating behaviour despite being close to her family. I pay tribute to the victim’s bravery and hope the sentence brings some closure.”
