The Mighty Barque Eagle: A Floating Legend

  • Length: a towering 90 metres (295 feet)
  • Unique: the only active square-rigged ship in US government service
  • History: originally commissioned as Horst Wessel by the German navy
  • Legacy: handed over to the US as World War II reparations

Today, the Eagle serves as a floating classroom, training future coast guard officers and providing professional development opportunities through the Coast Guard Academy.
