Teen Thug Punches Female Cop in the Face During Arrest
Youth Attacks Policewoman While Being Handcuffed
A young police constable in her 20s was brutally punched in the nose by a 16-year-old boy while trying to handcuff him during a search in September. The youth, bigger, stronger, and taller than the officer, struck her as she tried to restrain him in Ashby.
16-Year-Old Pleads Guilty at Leicester Court
Yesterday at Leicester Magistrates Court, the teen from Swadlincote pleaded guilty to wounding a police officer. He has been released on bail and is set to be sentenced on 11 January 2021. His identity remains protected by law.
Officer Suffers Serious Injuries
The officer had been assisting with a search after other officers detained the youth over suspicious behaviour on Burton Road. When she moved to handcuff him, he lashed out with a punch to her nose, causing severe pain she described as “never experienced before.”
She was rushed to Queens Hospital Burton where doctors found a broken nose, a broken septum, deep cuts, swelling, and bruising. The officer underwent surgery and required six internal and eleven external stitches to repair her injuries.
Police Vow Tough Action
“It is not acceptable for anyone to be attacked and assaulted in their job and we will not tolerate this happening to our officers,” said NPA Commander Inspector Rich Jackson. “Action will be taken and we will ensure anyone who commits this offence is brought before the courts.”
