Three Charged Over Cocaine Hidden in Banana Shipments
Three men are set to face court after being caught importing cocaine into the UK. Jose Manuel Perez De La Cruz (37), Ronny Sierra Guerrero (34), and Nathanael Colado-Jiminez (30) stand accused of smuggling the drugs concealed inside banana shipments.
Seized at Portsmouth Port
The cocaine was discovered in two separate shipments arriving at Portsmouth International Port from the Dominican Republic. Border Force officers seized the first haul on 20 January, followed by a second seizure on 26 January. Careful searches revealed the drugs hidden within the cardboard packaging of bananas.
Manhunt Leads to Acton Arrests
Following intensive investigations by Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime officers, raids were carried out at an Acton address. All three suspects were arrested after a warrant was executed. Perez De La Cruz lives in Beckway, Guerrero has no fixed address, and Colado-Jiminez is from Western Avenue, Acton.
Next Stop: Uxbridge Court
The trio will appear in custody at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 31 January to face charges relating to drug importation. Police vow to crack down further on drug smuggling operations targeting UK ports.
