DASA Doles Out £1m for Audience Analysis Innovation
The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is on the hunt for fresh ideas to crack the code on audience analysis. Funded by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), this new Themed Competition is calling innovators to help UK Defence sharpen its understanding of audiences—whether friend, foe, or fence-sitter.
What’s the Big Idea?
- DASA launches “Analysing and Understanding Audiences” competition
- Funding pot: Up to £1 million available
- Competition deadline: 30 May 2023
This challenge is focused on finding cutting-edge tools and methods to identify, assess, and engage different audiences. They want tech and tactics that can segment audiences, assess behavioural insights, decode narratives, analyse networks and channels, and deliver solid assessment metrics.
Why It Matters
The Defence sector relies on knowing its audience to plan and execute operations smoothly. Whether it’s peacetime or conflict, understanding individuals and groups—friendly, neutral or hostile—can make all the difference. Analysis helps pinpoint audiences of interest and reveal cultural or contextual factors that influence how messages are received and acted upon. In short, it’s about smarter, targeted responses that work.
