Woman Found Dead in New Cross Identified as Hien Vu
Tragedy struck New Cross on Sunday, April 13, when the body of a woman was found at an address on Hatfield Close. Court documents have now confirmed the victim as 40-something Hien Vu.
Man Arrested and Charged with Murder
Hai Nguyen, 41, from Hatfield Close, was charged with Ms Vu’s murder after turning himself in to Lewisham Police Station just minutes after emergency services arrived at the scene. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, Ms Vu was pronounced dead shortly after they arrived.
Nguyen appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 14. Police confirmed the suspect and victim knew each other but have not revealed details about their relationship.
Investigation Underway
The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the probe. A post-mortem is set to determine the exact cause of death.
“At this early stage, we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Ms Vu, and they are being supported by specially trained officers,” a Met spokesperson said.
Community in Shock
New Cross locals are reeling from the shock. Residents describe the neighbourhood as “usually quiet and close-knit.” Floral tributes have started to appear on Hatfield Close as neighbours mourn Ms Vu and pay their respects.
