18-Year-Old Fatally Stabbed After Motorbike Crash
An 18-year-old man has been stabbed to death on Academy Road, Woolwich, in a shocking afternoon attack. Locals have named the victim as Cameron Murfitt. Police believe the brutal assault was a targeted attack carried out by someone Cameron knew.
The tragedy unfolded when a white car reportedly crashed into Cameron’s motorbike. After the collision, the driver got out and stabbed him. Despite desperate attempts by passers-by, police, and paramedics, Cameron died at the scene.
Police Arrest 18-Year-Old Suspect in Murder Probe
Detectives launched a swift investigation and arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of murder the following day. The suspect was detained in the Thamesmead area and is in custody at a south London police station.
The violent attack happened at around 3:28pm on Sunday, 15 March near Academy Road’s junction with Shooters Hill, close to Woolwich Common. Officers from Specialist Crime South, led by DCI Richard Leonard, are probing the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Witness Appeal as Investigation Continues
Next of kin have been informed, but formal identification and a post-mortem examination are pending at Greenwich Mortuary. Police confirmed the victim and suspect are believed to have known each other.
