Man Arrested for Arson After Catford Blaze Destroys Home

A huge fire ripped through a property in Catford at the crack of dawn on Sunday. A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent as emergency crews battled the devastating blaze.

Inferno Erupts on Stansted Road

London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called out just before 6am after reports of a fire on Stansted Road. Multiple fire engines and crews scrambled to the scene to tackle the flames engulfing the lower ground floor of the property.

Police, paramedics from London Ambulance Service, and Metropolitan Police officers also attended.

Man in Custody as Fire Investigation Gets Underway

Authorities confirmed a man has been taken into custody in connection with the blaze, but his identity remains under wraps. The fire was so severe that Stansted Road, near the junction with Faversham Road, is closed in both directions, causing major disruption.

Forensic teams are combing the scene, collecting evidence as the arson investigation kicks off.

Injuries Reported, Investigation Continues

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.42am on 2 March to reports of a fire on Stansted Road in Catford. We sent ambulance crews, an incident response officer, and our hazardous area response team.

“We treated a man at the scene before taking him to hospital.”
