Two Young Men Fatally Shot in SE24 Shooting Horror

Tragedy struck Railton Road, SE24, on Sunday night, 30 October, when 23-year-old Guilherme Messias Da Silva and 27-year-old Lemar Rashawan Urqhart were gunned down.

Gunfire Erupts After Moped Crash

Police were alerted around 7.50 pm following reports of gunshots in the area. Emergency services rushed to the scene, including firearms officers, London Ambulance Service, and Air Ambulance. Despite their efforts, Guilherme and Lemar were pronounced dead at the spot.

Detectives revealed a dramatic chain of events: Two cars were driving along Railton Road when one collided with Guilherme’s moped before smashing into parked vehicles. Lemar then got out of one car and was chased by a gunman from the other vehicle, who shot him before fleeing.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Chief Inspector Sal Minhas from Specialist Crime said:

“Our thoughts continue with the families and friends of Guilherme and Lemar. We’re working round the clock to track down those responsible. The deaths underline the urgent need to tackle violent crime in our communities.”

Community in Mourning, Police Stand Guard

Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove of the Central South Command Unit, covering Lambeth and Southwark, said:

“More than a week on, my thoughts remain with the loved ones of Guilherme and Lemar. We understand the deep impact on the community and have local officers on patrol to provide reassurance and answer questions.”
