Tragic Motorcycle Crash in Greenwich Kills 8-Year-Old Boy
Police confirm no sign of terrorism or hate crime in the deadly collision that shocked Plumstead Road. An 8-year-old boy died at the scene after being hit by a speeding motorbike, while his brother and a man in his 40s remain in critical condition in hospital.
Family on Way to Prayer When Struck
The crash happened at around 7:30pm on Sunday, February 19, near the junction of Plumstead Road and Lenton Street, SE18. Greenwich council’s cabinet member for culture, Adel Khairehc, revealed the family were on their way to the Greenwich Islamic Centre for prayer.
“Horrific scenes outside @GICMosque — a father and his two young children were hit by a speeding motorcycle on their way to prayer,” tweeted Khairehc.
Three Pedestrians and Rider Injured
- The rider, a 20-year-old man, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
- A man in his 40s and a 10-year-old boy, who were crossing the road with the younger boy, are seriously hurt and fighting for their lives.
- The tragedy has left the local community reeling as emergency services rushed to the scene, including London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The Metropolitan Police are investigating and have made no arrests. Officers urge anyone with information to come forward.
