Tragic biker dies in horror crash with van on Marchwood By-pass

Tributes have poured in for Paul Matthews, 56, after he was fatally injured in a collision on Saturday morning. The Dibden resident was riding his Harley-Davidson when he collided with a Mercedes Sprinter van near the Staplewood Lane junction on the A326.

Crash details

The smash happened shortly after 10am on September 8. Emergency services rushed to the scene but despite efforts, Paul was pronounced dead. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Family pays heartfelt tribute

“We are truly devastated and numb having been given this news,” said Paul’s family. “Paul was a fantastic, loving husband and brother. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and colleagues. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to those people who helped Paul at the scene.”
