Fatal A272 Crash Near Petworth Linked to Driver’s Medical Episode

Police have wrapped up their probe into a deadly smash on the A272 near Petworth. The morning collision involved four cars—a white Porsche, a white BMW, a black BMW, and a white Audi—on Horsham Road by Fox Hill.

Tragedy Strikes Early Morning Commute

The crash happened around 7.50am on Monday, April 29. A 74-year-old man from Reigate, Surrey, sadly died at the scene. Meanwhile, a 65-year-old Midhurst man driving one of the other vehicles suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital.

Operation Preston Uncovers Cause

Following a post-mortem, officers discovered the Reigate man suffered a medical episode behind the wheel, which caused the fatal crash. The police launched Operation Preston to get to the bottom of the collision.
